This was the response I got 3 years ago when I enquired, but I believe the process is different for each province in Canada, and you may want to talk to the person below for more details. Life after internship/residency is not that lucrative in Canada. You may be better off in the Middle East.

If graduating from an accredited medical college in he United States, he/she will have substantially less difficulty obtaining his/her license to practice medicine in Canada.
He/She will have to complete the qualifying examinations that are administered by the Medical Council of Canada. There are two of these exams. Information about these exams can be found at http://www.mcc.ca. He/She should not have to worry about being subjected to the international medical graduate programs since American schools have their degrees recognized by the licensing bodies in Canada.

Lets see how a common member look at so called "GC Dream" and try to understand why there is no unity.
Is it what is called "Inspiration" which is missing? I guess so. Can we call it "Motivation"?
What else can we call that "thing" which stops us from uniting for a cause? "So far I am just "Encouraged" that all not inspired". Is this what it is? I do believe there is a huge difference in these 2 words.
Everyone in this community are Brave and Courageous.
Note: Do not jump on me asking What am I doing on all this. :) I think we just have to realize this to get a bigger perspective.
I agree to a lot of your points - the community has to evolve and not be pushed. All I say is for those who talk the talk, if they walk the talk - they become a good example and the community will grow.
Please do not take this as criticism. I respect everyone's space - come on folks we can collectively do it - why do we want to resist unity? It does no damage to us but only helps us for whatever cause we want to achieve, otherwise we will always be under the radar of people like Lou Dobbs and his likes - just because we are not vocal.

The OP was whether the country quota is constitutional. My interest was to find out if the current laws and regulations are violated by the country quota.
As lazycis pointed out, SC seems to uphold the current situation.
I was not looking into arguing in a court whether a particular regulation is fair or not. The law is what it is (what I or you consider fair or unfair is immaterial), question was : Is the law being implemented or not? Seems like it is.

A Congress leader canvassed openly against the official Presidential candidate and supported her own choice as independent nominee. The original Congress symbol was a pair of oxen. After the official Congress broke up, they got the hand as a temporary symbol till the case is finally settled. It would never be.
Opposing Sonia Gandhi's [Images] sudden rise in politics only on the grounds of her foreign origin were leaders like Sharad Pawar [Images] and P A Sangma. Old Congressmen still feel sad that they lost dynamic and promising leaders of substance like Rajesh Pilot, Madhavrao Scindia and Jitendra Prasada, who could have steered the Congress on an entirely different and strong nationalist course. Yet, they are the democrats and secular lighthouse of freedom of expression and liberty.
They kept India backward in such a planned manner that even after 62 years of independence we are yet to have a spacious functional airport in the national capital, 70,000 farmers committed suicide in one year, decorated soldiers returned their medals in protest and a movie on our poverty-stricken 'slum dogs' fetches the Oscar. And they loved illegal infiltrators for the sake of their votes -- and still they say they are the inheritors of a freedom struggle that demanded the ouster of aliens.
No electoral reforms, no police reforms or strengthening their morale and weapons, the administration is still run the way it functioned during the Sahebs; and despite having won a well-fought war in 1971 we couldn't settle the Kashmir issue or control the jihadi tail-wagger in the neighbourhood.
Minorities were so well supported in Congress regimes that in the sixth decade after independence they felt a need to provide special crutches for them. Show the 'M' card and get the privilege, became the new secular psalm, further shrinking the space and opportunities for the condemned majority.
More than anything else they tried to wreck the morale of the assertive Hindus who faced the onslaught of invaders for 12 centuries with unparalleled bravery and with invincible spirit to protect their culture and the fragrance of the land. At this time nobody can do anything legally against people who are using labor substitution and employers who are secretly selling labor substitution.
This substitution is increasing backlogs, is unfair to people waiting in line, encourages employer exploitation since they use it as an incentive to woo employees and then exploit them, 'selling' is illegal but one must complain against the employer and the employee for DOL to act.
Lawyers are part of this scam. I have read in some posts that even AILA opposed when labor substitution was being ended. It is a lost business opportunity for their lawyer members!!
I have pointed several labor substitution members on the forums in the past. some of them were never found on the forum since they feared being caught. They must have changed their ID or ran away. So until a law is passed for banning it, such 'trade' that hurts our interests will continue.

What ever gave you the idea that EB ROW only wait for 3 years? There's this common misconception flying around here that somehow ROW just cruises by
YEs all the people I know around me are ROW EB3 and PDs 2002 and 2003 and no GC, so please stop thinking we have it so good!
With regard to the per country limit.....there is only one for the first 3 quaters and it seems like in the last couple of times in the last quater India and Chine and maybe Phillipines did end up getting more GCs than their per country limit, at least I was so informed by my lawyers.
Besides that, immigration is a privilege not a right, so if the US wants diversity and limit per country immigration, it is their right to do so. Before you start being shocked by this, I am NOT saying I do not understand your frustration and the feeling you discriminated against, but rights are rights and we knew that before we started the process. If we can improve it great, if we can't we will just have to deal with it realisticly.
Some EU countries are doing the exact same thing by the way.
I do believe in diversity in any way and shape, and I do not stand for discrimination. I am just trying to face the reality.
I also have days when I wonder about leaving my own country which provided me with a wonderful education and how I am taking away from that country by leaving for my own success? if you don't have days when you feel guilty good for you.

You are assuming of course that all those who fall in the India category are Indians - I am not. I'm a Canadian who happened to be born in India and thus fall into that same bucket. My fellow Canadians who were born in Canada and are now in the US all support me in the removal of per country limits. Let us be more accurate and refer to this as the "mood amongst fellow Indian-born applicants", as opposed to "fellow Indians".

When people in Haiti or Fuji are concerned they were people of Indian origin who were forcibly taken by British folks as cheap labor. These guys went from India. Sri Lankan Tamils are most likely natives of Sri Lanka. Bangladesh and West Bengal share the same language but that does not make people from Bangladesh Indians. The purpose of this thread is to talk about predictions for Oct 09, lets focus on that, also each of us is frustrated in a different way, may be this is a forum where in one can come and vent their frustrations, pls be more empathetic towards all...
On a side note, we should probably start a polling to see how many folks are interested to spend (lets say) 5000$ to get a GC, if the number is high we should probably focus our efforts on hiring a lobbying company and push our agenda, that is the only way out of this situation, only throwing money will ensure our plight is heard appropriately in DC.
So again, pls be more empethatic to others, even if you do not agree, this is a good community we all should be helping each other even when we do not agree.
