Why is this being discusses here??
Just a dose of how things are on the other side. This may be more obvious when more companies start outsourcing.
On the other hand, this thing may not affect non IT folks.
My 2 cents - be careful at workplaces and try to avoid discussing about our issues with co workers, 99% of them are ALIPAC, NumbersUSA, Programmer's guild etc....

AT JFK.
Submitted two copies of AP and passport. I had three copies from USCIS.
Went through US citizen/resident queue and the CBP officer took me to another verification counter.
There were only one other person (Russian). No questions asked. NONE. Verified address and very very informative and friendly CBP officer. Handed both AP with one of them stamped. I have all three copies of AP with me with one stamped.
He advised that every time I travel make sure there is no NOID on my case and my AP is current.

Robbers charging your credit card is no big deal either. There are federal laws protecting us on incorrect credit card charges. Would you want to risk your life for just $50?
Year ago, my credit card was used by someone in Vegas and they charged about $2000.....I didn't loose my card and I was no where near Vegas during that time. My bank didn't charge me even a penny after going thru the identity theft complaint process which involved sending couple of mails with some notarized stuff and few phone calls.
Last month, my wife's handbag (had card in it) was pick-pocketed in a small town in India and they tried to use the card. We were on vacation and immediately called the bank and canceled the card.
Point is, whether it is India or US or anywhere, if a thief gets hold of your card, they would try to use it. For some, there is nothing like a free lunch!
Another example my ex-boss in US had. There was a homeless person in his area and he used to see him almost every day. One day he decided to do something, talked to him and asked him to sign-up with his church rehab group, get him a job etc....My ex-boss was serious but the homeless promptly rejected all the offers and instead he just wanted to remain as homeless only. He didn't even want to try....
Thanks,
GCisaDawg

I am talking about a person (like 485mbe - the one who has posted next to yr post) who has a PD of 2001 ..I am not saying that they should give Eb2's quota to EB3 ..but they should try to pull the category that is worst affected..or atleast give EB3 something ..
my question to you is ..say in the year 2010, would u support a situation where all categories are current or at 1 year difference ...while a particular category (eb3 I in this case) is at 2001 ??.. even if you do ..my feeling is that USCIS will try to pull EB3 - I (if something like above happens)..but then they are just a govt agency ..and in the end they are similar to govt agency in India ..only difference is that maybe little better
can I force them to do something just --No. can I pray for it -- maybe ..should I be ready for it (i.e. Eb3 - still in 2001 - 2002) - definitely !!
"but they should try to pull the category that is worst affected"
See, again, you are looking at it from the immigrant's point of view. Look at it from America's point of view. Immigration isn't like charity. America isn't in the business of helping immigrants, it is in the business of helping itself. No longer does America accept your tired, your poor, your huddled masses (http://www.libertystatepark.com/emma.htm), your wretched refuse anymore. The fact is that it is a matter of irrelevance to the US whether it is EB2 or EB3 that is retrogressed. It is only interested in retaining the best labor force in the world. EB1 and EB2 happen to be the best, at least on paper, therefore they are the chosen ones. The moment the US gets more self sufficient in so-called "high skilled professionals", it will make the green card opening narrower, perhaps even get rid of the EB3 category altogether. And would that be fair or just? Yes. Why? Because America is looking out for its own interests, not that of the immigrants. It's what every government does and should do.

In our pre-trial conference, we don't have chance to say any words in our case. Judge only asked my wife if she need no-contact or peaceful contact with me. My wife said no for either. But that DA still insist peaceful contact. Finally judge set peaceful contact for us.
SO far my wife's police statement is only words from her. Definitely my wife support me, she even asked my attorney if she plead guilty to peace disturbance, is that possible to dismiss my battery charge. Sure I don't want to risk her for any bad record. I will say we are in good marriage although we play around all the time. (Definitely we much careful since that terrible event)
Is that useful we find some witness, my wife's colleague and friends to demonstrate we are in good relationship?
Thanks!!!
Dude r u kidding?
If your wife say's it was a bad joke, then the whole case is over?

I find your ideas illogical, but I respect your opinion. Those who seek God will find Him.
If you deny facts, however, the facts do not change because of your opinion. People once believed that the Earth is flat.
You cannot deny that the American nation was found by those who where seeking religious freedom. Also read biographies of G. Washington, A. Lincoln, J. Adams and other founding fathers. They were sincere believers. I cannot explain America's greatness by simple luck. The founding fathers started builidng from scratch about 300 hundred years ago, far behind Europe and Asia. Now the US is the richest country in the world, despite the fact that it's neither the biggest nor the most populous.
As for your questions, I cannot prove that God exist, just like you cannot prove that He does not. Either way, it's a belief. I chose to believe in God.
God is the omnipresent, omni powerful spirit who fills the universe. If you want to know more, just ask.
The question isn't whether God exists, the question is, how probable is God's existence and since it is extremely improbable, it would be a mistake to assume his existence. Read Dawkins for more information.
Also, your revolutionary war anecdote appears to suggest that God is American. Why is the rest of the world worshiping him then?

Agreed the statement "Indian Americans are brilliant" is too much generalisation, but Many of the immigrants from India and China are here because they are highly educated, so they put a lot of emphasis on academics, as a sports star might on his/her children in sports, likewise a movie star.
Its better to be guided by aspirations than to be misguided by carelessness.

Absolutely wrong. Lot of misinformation here. You can very well apply for OCI for your child even if both of you are Indian citizens and the 4 steps mentioned above are just wrong. I would prefer OCI over PIO as mentioned in the other reply too, on PIO your child will have to register with the police station evry six months if stay is longer. OCI is valid forever while PIO is valid for 10 (or 5) years and OCI means you have all the rights but can't fight elections and vote.
In 2005 my first kid got an OCI as the rules were diiferent then but in 2009 the current rule is that one parent MUST be a US citizen and I had to take a PIO for my second kid in 2009.
Following is from the FAQ`s of Indian consulate at SFO
6. Are minor children whose both parents are Indian citizens eligible for OCI?
No.

One of the primary things that you are missing here is that these competitions are just competitions - meaning - it brings the kids together in a national forum, lets them compete with one another and helps build this competitive spirit - which they may repeatedly in their lifetime.
Being able to participate in a national competition boosts confidence - the sense of competition and wanting to excel is totally a transferable skill - it rekindles the parts in you (or a kid) that they are not aware existed before they competed.
As for whether this is a right forum to post this, I have seen worst things posted here on IV.

As per the state dept folks, pretty much all categories are using all their allocated numbers. So where is the spill over going to come from?
country quota will not impact I and C once the dates are current for ROW due to the spillover. If the number of applications pending is, say 100K and 95 K out of that are I and C. And assume 10K applications from ROW are add to the queue, what I am saying is all 110K will be cleared by end of the fiscal year.

Is there anyone who got an appointment letter recently from Amercan Embassy, MUMBAI?
My interview is scheduled on 22nd Aug but not received letter yet.
email the consulate. I heard that they are very prompt in replying.
please visit http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/ivfaq.html#whenappt\
In the FAQ section it says:
--------------------------------------------------
My date is current, my case is in Mumbai, and I turned in my forms. How can I find out the appointment date?
We schedule immigrant visa appointments by the middle of each month for the following month. We send a letter to the address of record in each case.
We also post immigrant visa appointments on our web site every month. Please check currently scheduled appointments to see if you or your relative has an appointment in the near future. If a case number appears on this list but the applicant has not yet received an appointment letter, either the applicant or an authorized agent may pick up a Duplicate Appointment Letter from our Public Information window any business day between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m., except for Indian and American holidays.

hope that helps.

Correct, there are problems with the online status with TSC.
My AP status say pending since 10/04/2007, I got my AP documents from attorney this afternoon.Still the status says pending.
I ve heard of problems with online status with TSC.
may be TSC is updating statuses weekly or something....
