    Im in the same boat as you. I just bought a D70 and it came with almost the same exact len kit. Ive had lots of fun/luck witht he 70-300mm at my kids softball games. I got some great shots of the kids at the plate , running, fielding etc...

    Back to your original question....I just bought a magazine this week by ShutterBug - Digital Photography How-To Guide. One of the articles is about choosing the next lens for your digital SLR. Well worth the price for us rookies :p





    I need some serious help with my D50 equipment. I have no experience at all with SLR cameras, and have recently bought a bundle consisting of a Nikon D50 and a Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S Dxlens. Now I am interested in buying another lens (The Nikon 70-300mm f/4-5.6 AF Zoom Lens) in hope that these two lenses would suit my needs in amateur photography. I intend to photo landscapes, portraits and some ''macro'' (flowers and some insects). So, I would like to know if these lenses are an acceptable choice, having in mind that I can't afford to buy some expensive lenses, as my average monthly salary almost amounts to the price of these cheap ones. Thanks.

    From what I have heard so far, you need the receipt number. Talk to your lawyer asap.

    If one has an approved I-140, the priority date of that approval is "locked-in" so to speak and can be used for future cases. Normal proof one would want to have for when s/he is filing a new PERM case with a new I-140, is a copy of that previous approval notice, though sometimes it is possible to use the on-line status print out. To carry over the priority date it is not necessary that the two positions be similar, or even that they be in the same preference category. One can be EB3 and the other EB2.

    What happens in retaining a priority date where the I-140 is revoked is unclear. While there are regulations that state that you would no longer be able to carry over the priority date if the I-140 is revoked, there is a USCIS memorandum that states that only where the I-140 is revoked for misrepresentation or fraud are you not able to carry it over. The USCIS seems to be following the memorandum consistently though it does not have the force of law. It is not necessary that the positions between the first I-140 and the new subsequent I-140 be same or similar in any way. The DOL does not determine if a priority date will transfer. That is a determination by the USCIS. The language in the regulations is "shall" be transferred, rather than being discretionary.

    Rep. Eshoo (D- CA) : 14th District - San Francisco, San Jose, Santa Cruz

    FYI - last year I was current on August 1st and got my green card email on August 30th. There were plenty of people who did not get it that month and got it following month.

    If I were you, I would what ever you think helps your case but looking at how things happend last year, I really dont think anything helped. But I did talk to my congressman and also created SR. I think, if you search for threads titled August 2010 approvals etc you will find everyone went through what you are all going through now.

    Actually FP has nothing to do whatsoever with Name Check or when it is initiated. Name Check is a separate process that usually starts within a couple of weeks after you Notice Date. You can check when it is initiated with an Infopass or by talking to a service center IIO on the phone.

    Gurus,

    Myy EAD is expiring and Renewal is taking more than 1 year as per new processing times.

    Can I switch back to H1-B. I am in EAD and I dont have any H1-B status now. I have used 5 1/2 years of h1B previously. Six years is not utilized

    What are pros and cons..

    Please help..

    I am planning to apply my niece to come to USA to study 8th grader in private school. She is 13 years old in May 2011. I believe she doesn't need to go for an interview at US embassy in Bangkok Thailand. What do I suppose to do then? How do I submit her DS-160 (already finish filling online) and other document? What else do I need to know in order for her to come to the US.

    I had similar situation in labor process. The new company attorney mentioned me to do an amendment for labor processing, however I was reluctant and did not continue with it. An year later on pending labor, I received RFE: something like unable to find company. Attorney then sent the company acquisition details. Months later labor got approved.

    Talk to your attorney.

    If I get my 3yr H1 extn approved (before 140 cancellation) with company B and company A revokes my approved 140, is it possible to transfer my priority date(of the approved 140 ..which is now revoked by company A) to my new 140 filed by company B?

    08/04/2006: Elimination of Backlog Labor Certification Applications: Feasible in 14 Months?

    * The DOL authorities confirmed in San Antonio in June that the data entries were about to be completed by the end of June and mailing out of all the 45-day letters might also be completed by middle or within July 2006. The authorities also confirmed that traditional regular labor certification applicants would start receiving the recruitment instructions with their prevailing wage determination to accelerate the recruitment process beginning from later part of July 2006.
    * For a while, the employers received en masse the 45-day letters in the mail, but lately it has slowed down for unknown reasons. Sources indicate that the initial schedule has been somewhat pushed off. However, the DOL website still promises that they will eliminate all the backlog cases in 14 months. The period of 14 months may be a long time for the immigrants but a short time for the agency to eliminate tons of complicated labor certification applications. This is particularly true in that as the elimination program approaches the end of the rope, the morale of the temporary workers that manage, operate, and process applications is expected to drop substantially.
    * The late slow-down of the pace of processing of the backlog applications raises a misgiving that unless the agency works out a special procedure or device, they may not be able to reach the goal.. There are still tons of traditional applications that await a time-consuming supervised recruitment process and adjudication including audits. The c6nsumers want to see some speed-up action before we approach the year-end holiday season and work slow-downs.

    We don't need a web based status check system for our labor it just might be another tack tick to further delay labor processing. We have waited so long some even more then 5 yrs and we know that our case is still in process ; we simply shouldn�t care if BRC create some stupid website or not to show that our case is still processing, as long as they keep their word this time and finish all pending labor processing by September 07

    the other thing about ombudsman replying to emails..i wouldd have written to him.. but neither do i have a "technical issue" problem...nor do i have an established line of communication open with thee ombudsman's office...so i m just trying to get some info from gautam who seemed to have that.
