this 19% cannot be issued in July either- not more than 10% a mnth

i'm curious to know what reason they will use to justify it.

I was one of the participants in the rally held on September 18th by Immigration Voice (www.immigrationvoice.org). I flew from Dallas, TX to press for reform to the green card process which is taking anywhere between 6-12 years to process permanent residency applications. This is VERY different than H1-B which is a temporary visa.
As a participant of this rally, I am utterly disappointed to read that you and the CNN organization have completely misrepresented the purpose of my protest, thereby undermining the whole effort.
Kindly contact info@immigrationvoice.org and Immigration Voice should be able to provide you with the detailed facts about the purpose of the protest. I urge you to fix the article as soon as possible and issue a correction.

I dont know about India and china specifically.
There are 2.7 million Indian americans in the U.S and 9.3 Chinese Americans.
You do the math.

What i would say is that if folks from a particular country is getting 'edge' in numbers , then the diversity axe should be applied. In that sense i was wondering whether the country quota applied is 'fair' ( i know what is fair is determined by the country which made the rules/laws/practices . ) to India,China .

I am currently in US with L1B with Company A.
Company B has already filed H1B petition for me.
Assuming it gets selected & approved, Is it Possible for me to Continue with Company A after Oct1 2007 with the L1 itself.

I dont see any reason why you cant continue of L1 , as u would require to apply for change of status for to be on H1 and is provided your L1 is valid beyond Oct. I think you need to file Form I 539 to change the noimmigrant status for eg if u need to go from H4 to H1 then u file this form.

I see a lot of posts here which talks about no salary increase and no change in position. I assume this is due to the employer and not due to the immigration process started.
If the employer is willing there is nothing that stops the employer from giving you salary increases or changing your position while you wait to get your GC.
This is what I thought but the posts here sometimes lead me to believe that if you get a salary increase while waiting for your GC your process will be hampered.

I do not believe that one person (Pappu) should be held responsible for whatever going on You should not blame Pappu alone.
However, I agree that donor forum proved to be disastrous and driving people away from IV. Someone in core team should do analysis on how much it helped the IV cause and whether it should exist going forward. Lack of transparency is clearly hurting IV cause.
IV needs to OPEN ITS BOOKS
And show DONORS where their money is going? Where is the sponsors money going? and what is this ORGANIZATION planning to do. IF not, one these days they will find themselves in a audit and public scrutiny.

ROW moved 2 months, I will take it. If it keeps moving 2 months at a time, then my turn would come up in 3 years. Highly unlikely cause ROW PD per USCIS is expected to be in 2005/2006 by end of year. I think my PR for ROW would be pretty much catching up.

However, how will this mistake be rectified?
What happens to us who have spend so much money on preparations?
Among these 700K or so applicants, iam not sure how many have to leave the country because of various reasons before there PDs become current again in near future.
In that case, who should reimburse the costs? If this was a case of poor customer service, then they should also follow this age old saying in business community "Customer is always right" and promptly refund the expenses incurred.
I am for requesting the congress for a special vehicle for july filers. There should be a way out for all the affected applicants no matter what their PD was.
In matter of 2 weeks, the billion dollar mistake have costed us dearly in lot many other ways.
It is a really a good question. Unfortualtly no one going to pay back money, time. It is just a poor customer service. These are all the burdens we need to go thro, as a immigrants. We do not have much rights in a foreign land. I know, some guys sued INS for delaying 485 approval in early 2000. INS took more than 2 years to process 485 even it was not affercted by etrogression (entire 2 year PD was current). The law suit is not favorable to us.

Hatz off to that lady... Lot of us are still thinking to fill law-suit against USCIS/DOS.... We should act fast now and file law-suit rather than just waiting and discussing here. I have asked to Vin13 if he/she can get source of information from Ron. If you have good contact with him can you ask for source of info ? Any link to USED vs waste number. Or even any link that made definition of USED visas and waste visas and their number for last year ? I am serious to get this fix this time , if I get a link to some document that clarify.
